Horse-drawn buggies. Miles and miles of gorgeous farmland. A slower pace.

These are some of the things that might come to mind when you think of the Amish, but as many of our clients discover when they join us for this tour, there is much more to the Amish way of life than just farming and no electricity. 

​For more than 20 years, our guides have brought our Zachary Travel tour groups through the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and Ohio to learn about the different way of life that is the Amish culture.

This 10-day tour includes 6 nights in the beautiful Amish areas of Pennsylvania and Ohio. These areas are as different in their Amish cultures as they are in their locations. Learn about the two main religious orders that the Amish people follow - the New Order Amish and the Old Order Amish - and why the New Order is more progressive in some areas and more conservative in others. Enjoy shopping in the Amish markets, learning about Amish businesses and experience some lovely meals hosted by Amish families as you learn more about their culture and way of life.

Did we mention that the food is delicious? Garden fresh vegetables, wonderful fried chicken, egg noodles and brown gravy, and the softest most flavorful soft pretzels you'll ever taste. 

Not to miss, one special stop in this tour is the Flight 93 National Memorial, which is located at the site of the crash of United Airlines Flight 93, one of the flights hijacked in the September 11 attacks which crashed in a grassy field two miles north of Shanksville, PA. Walk through the Visitor's Center museum to learn more about that fateful day (pandemic restrictions permitting). View the wall at Memorial Plaza which features forty white polished marble stones inscribed with the names of the passengers and crew. Gaze up at the Tower of Voices (completed in 2018), the only chime structure of its type in the world, and listen to an incredible memoriam in sound.

We also do a drive-through of Washington, D.C., seeing some of our nation's beautiful monuments and memorials and a visit to Hershey's Chocolate World,  where the aroma of chocolate literally hangs in the air. Heaven!
