Travel Insurance

Travel is an investment in happiness, health, enjoyment and discovery. Make sure you protect your investment with travel insurance.

Whether you're traveling on your own or with one of our group tours, you need travel insurance. People get sick, parents get ill, or kids get stuck in summer school and plans are forced to change, which can mean losing thousands of dollars in your travel arrangements if you haven't taken the steps to protect what you've purchased.

Unfortunately, our staff sees the hard reality of what happens when a client does not purchase travel insurance and has to cancel. We don’t want this to happen to you.
Please contact our office at 225.654.9210, and we will be happy to provide a quick quote over the phone and walk you through your options, or take a minute to fill out the form below if you feel comfortable booking it on your own. Payment for insurance is processed online and is made with a credit or debit card.

Some quick terms and tips to know when thinking about purchasing insurance:
  • pre-existing conditions - any health issue, injury or illness that has exhibited symptoms or has been treated in the last 120 days by a doctor is considered a pre-existing condition. In order for a pre-existing condition to be covered under a claim, your plan must be purchased within 14 days of making your first trip payment or first trip deposit, your trip cancellation coverage must cover the full cost of all your non-refundable trip arrangements, you must be a U.S. resident and medically able to travel on the day you purchased the plan and the total cost of your trip is $10,000 or less.
  • the classic plan with cancel anytime - while you pay more for this plan, this is the plan to purchase if you're concerned about upcoming travel for which normal covered reasons might not apply. For example, your daughter is expecting a baby and is due around the time you're traveling, or you are concerned about flying and being around the public during seasons of illness such as the flu, this is the plan to purchase because you will be able to cancel for an uncovered reason and still receive up to 80% back of your nonrefundable costs. This plan must be purchased at time of deposit.
  • basic plan vs classic plan - the majority of our clients typically purchase the basic plan or the classic plan offered through our preferred insurance supplier, Allianz. The main difference between the two plans is the amount of coverage for medical and emergency transportation and special assistance with air travel offered by the classic plan which we strongly recommend specifically for international travel.
  • using your credit card company travel protection benefits - occasionally, our clients tell us they will be putting the trip on their credit card and will use the travel insurance associated with that card. Be sure that you review ALL of the current terms and conditions by your credit card company on what is covered and what is not so there are no surprises. Credit card companies frequently change their plans and policies, and clients are not always aware that what was covered on a trip 5 years ago is no longer covered on a trip this year.

TOUR PAYMENTS, INSURANCE & CANCELLATIONS

FINAL PAYMENTS & CANCELLATIONS: In order to receive a refund, you must cancel before the final payment deadline of a tour If you cancel after the final payment deadline, you must have travel insurance to receive a refund - and the cancellation reason must be a covered reason by the insurance company.

INSURANCE & CANCELLATIONS: Should we as an agency decide to cancel a tour and you have not already cancelled with us, you will receive a full refund and we will request that the insurance company return your insurance premium.

If you cancel your reservation after the final payment deadline but before our agency cancels a tour, you will have to file an insurance claim in order to receive a refund, and you will not be eligible to get your insurance premium back.

If you do not purchase insurance and cancel after the final payment deadline, you will not receive a refund. In the past, we have made many exceptions for clients who have found themselves in this situation, but we are unable to do this going forward. You are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance.

Please note that due to the ongoing pandemic and COVID-19 situation, the policy for purchasing Cancel-Anytime insurance has changed and you must purchase at time of deposit. Other policies can still be purchased any time after deposit, however, if you have pre-existing conditions you are concerned about, insurance must be purchased within 14 days of deposit in order to be covered.

As of February 8, 2021, our travel insurance supplier is covering emergency medical care for a client who becomes ill with COVID-19 while on their trip. They are also accommodating claims for trip cancellation and trip interruption if a customer becomes ill with COVID-19 either before or during their trip.

However, please be mindful that most travel insurance suppliers, including the one we use, are not covering "exposure" to COVID-19. If you have been exposed to someone ill with COVID-19, and have to quarantine, resulting in a cancelled trip, travel insurance will not cover losses.
