This tour requires a range of physical activity, from easy overlooks and shuttle rides to moderate walking. Be prepared for elevation changes and possible uneven terrain. - Day 1, Sunday, June 9 - Pauls Valley, OK - Early morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge. Pick-ups along I-10 to Lafayette, I-49 to Shreveport, and I-20 through Dallas to Pauls Valley, OK for overnight.
Day 2, Monday, June 10- Albuquerque, Mexico – Journey through Oklahoma City, Amarillo, and into New Mexico. Then on to Albuquerque for overnight.
Day 3, Tuesday, June 11 - Flagstaff, Arizona - We cross into Arizona and stop at a natural wonder, the Petrified Forest National Park, one of the most spectacular displays of petrified wood in the world. Visit the colorful area known as the Painted Desert. Overnight at Flagstaff.
Day 4, Wednesday, June 12 - Grand Canyon - Morning drive to Williams, Arizona to board the Grand Canyon Railway for a day trip on the train to Grand Canyon, the most spectacular canyon in the world. Ten miles wide and a mile deep, this awesome panorama leaves you speechless with sheer wonder. Back to Williams for an included dinner and overnight at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel.
Day 5, Thursday, June 13 - Page, Arizona - Morning visit to Oak Creek Canyon, known for spectacular colors, and the red rock resort of Sedona, the setting for many movies. Overnight in Page.
Day 6, Friday, June 14 - Kanab, Utah - Morning visit to Marble Canyon and the Navajo Bridge. See the colorful Vermilion Cliffs. Overnight in Kanab, our home for two nights. Afternoon visit to Bryce Canyon National Park and see the spectacular landscape of spires and pinnacles.
Day 7, Saturday, June 15 - Kanab, Utah - Enjoy a beautiful drive to Zion Canyon National Park to see sheer cliffs, huge rock formations and mountains. Many consider Zion the best of the national parks.
Day 8, Sunday, June 16 - Farmington, New Mexico - We visit the Monument Valley where we see spectacular nature - spectacular formations - isolated monoliths of red sandstone towering as much as 1,000 feet above the valley floor. On to Four Corners, the only place in the country where four states meet. Plenty of Indian wares for sale. View Shiprock, which stands 1,700 feet above the desert, on the way to Farmington.
Day 9, Monday, June 17 - Amarillo, TX - Lunch in Albuquerque, overnight in Amarillo.
Day 10, Tuesday, June 18 - Terrell, TX - We make our way home. Overnight in Terrell, TX.
Day 11, Wednesday, June 19 - Baton Rouge - Motor coach through Shreveport to Baton Rouge. We arrive home with many wonderful memories of a truly spectacular tour.
