This tour may involve extensive walking at times, often on cobblestone streets or uneven terrains, and may require navigating stairs or steep inclines at historical sites - Day 1 – Sunday, May 26 - Fly from Baton Rouge (or other home airports) on overnight flight to Europe.
Day 2 – Monday, May 27 - London - Morning arrival in London and begin our sightseeing with a visit to Windsor Castle, England’s largest castle and also the largest inhabited stronghold in the world – a favorite royal residence for a thousand years. Included dinner
Day 3 - Tuesday, May 28 - London – Guided sightseeing includes all the famous landmarks - House of Parliament, Downing Street, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, and inside visits to Tower of London and Westminster Abbey.
Day 4 - Wednesday, May 29 - Paris – Morning board the high-speed Eurostar Train for Paris, going under the English Channel. Afternoon visit to the Palace of Versailles.
Day 5 - Thursday, May 30 - Paris – Guided tour - see Notre Dame Cathedral, Opera House, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Paris’ renowned art district. Ride the Petit Train de Montmartre, a train-style trolly. Tonight we enjoy an included dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6 – Friday, May 31 - Paris - Colleville sur Mer – Motor coach to the Normandy coast. Visit Omaha Beach, site of D-Day Landing on June 6, 1944, and the American Cemetery. See the Rangers Memorial at Point du Hoc. A day you will always remember.
Day 7– Saturday, June 1 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands – We board the train and travel on to Amsterdam. On arrival, guided tour of Amsterdam. Visit to Anne Frank House and Rijks Museum.
Day 8 - Sunday, June 2 - Amsterdam – Full day guided city sightseeing tour of Amsterdam and area. Visits to see windmills, Catharina Hoeve Cheese Farm and a Clog Workshop.
Day 9 – Monday, June 3 - Today we take the train to Cologne and travel by coach to the town of Koblenz. Leisure time until we take a river cruise past many castles on the Rhine. Head to Wiesbaden for overnight
Day 10 – Tuesday, June 4 - Germany – Guided tour of the historical town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Included dinner at the hotel. Overnight in the Munich area.
Day 11 – Wednesday, June 5 - Germany/Austria – Travel through Munich to Dachau. Visit to Dachau, infamous death camp. Overnight Innsbruck
Day 12 – Thursday, June 6 - Ehrwald, Austria - Morning view of Neuschwanstein, the “fairytale castle” built by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria, one of Europe’s premier tourist attractions. Castle was the model for Disney’s castle. Visit the quaint wood carving village of Oberammergau, famous for its “every ten years” Passion Play. Shopping time.
Day 13 – Friday, June 7 - Lucerne, Switzerland – This morning we bus through the center of the Austrian Alps, cross the Arlberg Pass and make a stop in the tiny country of Liechtenstein. On to Lucerne, perhaps the loveliest place in the world, located on a lake with the massive Alps in the background. Enjoy the marvelous lake promenades and ancient picturesque covered bridges. Afternoon walking sightseeing tour of Lucerne.
Day 14 – Saturday, June 8 - Lucerne – Time to savor this beautiful place and to have a shopping spree at the Bucherer, the most famous watch store in the world. An optional lake cruise is highly recommended. Dinner in local restaurant is included.
Day 15 - Sunday, June 9 - Home – This morning we coach to Zurich and board our flight home, arriving the same day.
