Day 1- Friday, Sept. 1 - Chattanooga, TN – Early morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge. Route – Denham Springs, Hammond, Meridian, MS, Birmingham, AL. Overnight in Chattanooga.
Day 2 - Saturday, Sept. 2 - Hagerstown, MD – Travel day up the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Overnight in Hagerstown, Maryland. (B) Day 3 - Sunday, Sept. 3 - Vernon, CT – On our journey today we make a brief visit to Gettysburg and lunch and shopping in the Amish area. Overnight in Connecticut. (B) Day 4 - Monday, Sept. 4 - Cape Cod (Hyannis) - Morning drive to Boston where we see the highlights. Shopping and lunch at bustling Quincy Market. Visit Plymouth, where the pilgrims came in 1620, before arriving at Cape Cod, our home for four nights. (B,D) Day 5 - Tuesday, Sept. 5 - Cape Cod - Provincetown – Today we see the highlights of Hyannis including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, St. Xavier Church and the neighborhood of the Kennedy Compound. Travel Olde King’s Highway dotted with historic Cape Cod architecture and New England Inns. See historic windmills, giant sand dunes of Truro and visit the Cape Cod Seashore Visitor Center focusing on the interesting natural history of this unique area. There will be time in Provincetown to explore and have lunch on your own. (B,D) Day 6 - Wednesday, Sept. 6 - Cape Cod – Martha’s Vineyard – Depart from scenic Woods Hole Harbor with your coach for the “Storybook Island” of Martha’s Vineyard. Your tour will include the famous Gingerbread Houses, Island Tabernacle and Antique Carousel of Oak Bluffs, the colorful cliffs of Gay Head, and stories and views of well-known residents homes. You will have time to explore Edgartown filled with its many shops, eateries, attractions and extraordinary views of the Atlantic. (B) Day 7 - Thursday, Sept. 7 - Cape Cod – Nantucket Island – Cruise from scenic Hyannis Harbor. Once on Nantucket, enjoy your guided tour of the picturesque island, well-known for famous sea captains and steeped in whaling history (the setting for Moby Dick). Your tour will include historic lighthouses, pristine beaches, quaint cobblestone streets, galleries, historic meeting houses, stories of famous residents and more. Time for lunch on your own in the waterfront shopping area. (B, D) Day 8 - Friday, Sept. 8 - Danbury, CT – Depart Cape Cod for Newport, Rhode Island, the “Yachting Capital of the East”. We travel along breathtaking Ocean Drive enroute to Bellevue Avenue which is lined with 11 historic mansions, 7 of which are designated National Historic Landmarks. We tour one of these architectural marvels. On to coastal Connecticut. Overnight Danbury. (B) Day 9 - Saturday, Sept. 9 - Lexington, VA – We make our way into Pennsylvania, with a visit to Pennsylvania’s state capitol, and lunch. Then onto Lexington, VA where we stay overnight. (B) Day 10 - Sunday, Sept. 10 - Chattanooga, TN – Travel day through Virginia. Overnight in Chattanooga, TN where we enjoy an included farewell dinner.
