Day 1 - Abilene, Texas – Early morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge. Routing is along I-10 to Lafayette, I-49 through Alexandria to Shreveport, I-20 to Dallas. Overnight in Abilene.
Day 2 - Santa Fe, New Mexico – Through Lubbock, Texas to Santa Fe, New Mexico for overnight. Enjoy old Santa Fe – no other place like it. Day 3 - Moab, Utah – Visit 4-Corners, where you can stand in 4 states at one time. Through scenic southern Utah to Moab, Utah for overnight. Day 4 - Salt Lake City, Utah – Morning visit to Dead Horse Point State Park for spectacular view of Canyonland and Colorado River. Then tour Arches National Park. Overnight in the Salt Lake City area. Day 5 - Lake Tahoe – Morning tour of Salt Lake City. Visit State Capitol and Mormon Temple Square. Afternoon travel by Great Salt Lake and along the Salt Flats – overnight at Lake Tahoe. Day 6 - Ukiah, California – Morning viewing of spectacular Lake Tahoe. Through central California into the wine area of Ukiah for overnight. Day 7 - Gold Beach, Oregon – Morning drive through the Avenue of Giants (Redwood Trees) to the Pacific Coast and Eureka. Included lunch at Samoa Cookhouse. Along the coast and through Redwood National Park. Overnight in Gold Beach on the Oregon coast. Day 8 - Newport, Oregon – Morning jet boat ride on the wild Rogue River. Afternoon drive along the spectacular Oregon coast considered by many to be the most beautiful in the world. Day 9 - Portland, Oregon – Morning visit to McMinnville Air Museum with the Spruce Goose. Then on to the mighty Columbia River and 620-foot Multnomah Falls. Day 10 - Seattle, Washington – Visit Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and relive the 1980 eruption of the volcano and learn about the re-growth and recovery. Day 11 - Ellensburg, WA – We see the Space Needle, Pioneer Square and Pike’s Place Market. Day 12 - Twin Falls, Idaho – Through the Cascade Mountains of Washington and eastern Oregon and into Idaho. Day 13 - Vernal, Utah – Through corners of Idaho, Utah & Wyoming. See Flaming Gorge area. Day 14 Trinidad, Colorado – Visit to Dinosaur Nat’l Monument and the remains of numerous species of dinosaurs and fossils more than 149 million years old. Day 15 - Wichita Falls, Texas – Visit Capulin Volcano National Monument and Texas Panhandle. Day 16 - Home – Drive home via Dallas and Shreveport. We arrive in Baton Rouge this evening. |
