Day 3, Wednesday, April 24 - Cologne, Dusseldorf - After a good night’s sleep, we will travel up to Cologne to
meet with local field workers. Cologne’s majestic cathedral is one of the most visited attractions in Germany, due to
its tall twin steeples. Dating back to Roman times, Cologne was an important ecclesiastic and trading center. We will
continue to Dusseldorf, where we will stay for two nights. (B/D)
Day 4, Thursday, April 25 - Dusseldorf - This modern city once was the center of the 16th century Protestant Reformation and straddles both sides of the Rhine. We will spend the day led by local field workers. Dusseldorf is home to the Classic Remise exhibition hall of classic cars, the Kunstammlung Art Collection, a fascinating Old Town and the Rhine Promenade. Field workers from Essen will also join us today. (B/D)
Day 5, Friday, April 26 - Erfurt - We will drive to Erfurt today, with a lunch stop along the way. In the afternoon, our local guide will take us on an walking tour viewing St. Mary’s Cathedral, the Church of St. Severus, and the famous Merchant’s Bridge. We will end our tour at the Augustinian Monastery where Luther became a monk on July 17, 1505. We will be able to see his monastic quarters, including one cell furnished to look as it would have when he lived there. At the end of the tour,
we will have a group worship service in the chapel. (B/D)
Day 6, Saturday, April 27 - Eisenach, Buchenwald, Erfurt - This morning we will visit nearby Eisenach, for a tour of the
Wartburg Castle, where Luther took refuge fleeing the pope and translated the New Testament into German. Luther spent time in the nearby town of Eisenach as a schoolboy and sang in the choir of St. George’s Church, where the Bach family also
worshiped. In the afternoon we will visit Buchenwald Concentration Camp, where Bonhoeffer was held in 1945. The evening is at leisure. (B)
Day 7: Sunday, April 28, 2024: Erfurt, Leipzig, Wittenberg - This morning we’ll enjoy worship at the English-speaking Leipzig English Church. This afternoon, we’ll enjoy a city tour to see St. Thomas’ Church (where Bach was cantor) and St. Nicholas Church (home to the peaceful prayer vigils in 1989). We will dine in our hotel in Wittenberg this evening. (B/D)
Day 8, Monday, April 29 - Wittenberg - This morning we will tour Lutherstadt Wittenberg, where Martin Luther nailed his famous 95 Theses to the door of Castle Church (Schlosskirche) in 1517. Although the original doors were destroyed in the Seven Years War, we can see Luther’s texts cast in bronze on the new doors. We will visit St. Mary’s Church where Luther regularly preached and visit the Old Latin School next door. Luther’s former home, the Lutherhalle, is now a Reformation Museum and we will see where he lived with his family, as well as some of Luther’s very own personal library, rare manuscripts, and early Bibles. The rest of the day will be free to explore independently. (B)

Our farewell meal will be at a restaurant. (B/D)
Day 10, Wednesday, May 1 - Return Home - Our motor coach will take us to Berlin Airport for our return flight home.
