- Day 1 - Saturday, April 27 - Fly from Baton Rouge on overnight flight to Barcelona.
Day 2, Sunday, April 28 - Barcelona - Morning arrival at the Barcelona airport. We begin with a half-day tour, taking in the main sights of the Old Gothic Quarter including the avenue of La Rambla. Enjoy an included Welcome Dinner. Overnight in Barcelona for 2 nights.
Day 3, Monday, April 29 - Barcelona – A full day of guided sight-seeing in Barcelona, including visits to some of Gaudi's most famous modernist landmarks, the Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell. Also included is a trip on the funicular up to the viewpoint of Mount Tibidabo, one of the best viewpoints in the city. Overnight in Barcelona.
Day 4, Tuesday, April 30 - Madrid - Transfer to train station to catch the high-speed train to the capital city of Madrid. On arrival we meet our local guide and embark on a half-day city tour to view the main sights of the capital, including Plaza Mayor, entrance to the the Palacio Real (Royal Palace) and the Museo del Prado. Tonight there is an included dinner at a traditional Spanish restaurant. Overnight in Madrid.
Day 5, Wednesday, May 1 - Santiago Compostela - This morning we travel by train to Santiago de Compostela. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Enjoy an included dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 6, Thursday, May 2 - Santiago de Compostela - City walking tour of Santiago with a visit the St James Cathedral. View the Plaza del Obradoiro and the San Francisco Convent. Leisure time. Overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 7, Friday, May 3 - Leon to Burgos - Today we travel to Burgos with a stop in Leon to visit the Cathedral. We have free time to explore and have lunch on our own. This afternoon we continue on to Burgos.
Day 8, Saturday, May 4 - Burgos - After breakfast we have a guided walking tour of Burgos. Included visit to Burgos Cathedral. We view the Arco de Santa Maria, Plaza Mayor and Monasterio de Santa Maria de Las Huelgas. This afternoon we travel to Madrid where we overnight.
Day 9, Sunday, May 5 - Cordoba - The group will transfer to the train station in Madrid today, to catch the high-speed train south to Cordoba – in Spain’s southern Andalucía region, where Spain and Africa meet, with its Moorish heritage. On arrival, a touring coach will join the group and remain in service until Lisbon. The group will enjoy a guided tour of the main sights – including the Old Roman Bridge of Cordoba (which was featured in the Games of Thrones series) and the famous and unique ‘mosque-cathedral’, the Mezquita. They will also visit the Medina Azahara, just out of town; the archaeological remains of a fortified palace city dating back to the Umayyad dynasty of the 10 th century. enjoy an included dinner at an Andalucian restaurant. Overnight in Cordoba
Day 10, Monday, May 6 - Granada - Afternoon guided tour of Granada. View the Mirador of San Nicolas, visit the Alhambra Palace and the Moorish Albaicin District. Overnight in Granada.
Day 11, Tuesday, May 7 - Seville - We depart Granada with a stop in the hilltop city of Ronda and view the Puente Nuevo which spans a gorge as well as a visit to the bullring, Andalucia is known for its bullfighting heritage and Ronda's ring is one of the most famous. we head to Arcos de la Frontera, one of the region's most picturesque "Pueblos Blancos" to see the white houses before continuing on to Jerez. Jerez is home to the vineyards for a tour of a local bodega with a tasting. Overnight in Seville.
Day 12, Wednesday, May 8 - Seville - Today we enjoy a full day of guided sightseeing in Seville and includes the Cathedral, Treasury and Giralda as well as the Alcazar- one of the most impressive and visited such royal palaces in the region and known for being an excellent example of the Mudejar architectural style. They will also see the famous Plaza de Espana, and also see something very different indeed – the ‘Setas’ (Mushrooms) of Seville, a super-modern wooden structure with panoramic terraces, providing great views over the city. Tonight, the group will enjoy a show dinner at a local restaurant – Flamenco, a dancing style for which the region is famous. Overnight Seville.
Day 13, Thursday, May 9 - Lisbon - The group will depart Seville today, and head west into Portugal. They will travel along the Algarve coastline, known for its distinctive rock formations, with stops to view some of the most picturesque beaches, and some free time in the town of Albufeira, before continuing north to Lisbon. Overnight Lisbon
Day 14, Friday, May 10 - Lisbon - A full day of guided sightseeing by local coach in Lisbon. The group will visit the Alfama district, sights, see St. George’s Castle, and visit the National Tile Museum – an art museum dedicated to azulejo, traditional tilework of Portugal. In the afternoon, they will head to the Belem district, to climb the Belem Tower, a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon for Portuguese maritime explorers, and visit the distinctive Jeronimos Monastery. They will end the day with a visit to the Pasteis Belem bakery store, the first site to make and sell the famous Pasteis de Nata – Portuguese custard tarts. Overnight Lisbon.
Day 15, Saturday, May 11 - Lisbon - A full day excursion to Fatima where they will have a walking tour with a local guide to visit the main sights as the Sanctuary of Fatima, the Tombs at Fatima Basilica, Chapel of Apparitions. After that, they will have some free time to explore and have lunch at own expense. In the afternoon return to Lisbon. Overnight in Lisbon
Day 16, Sunday, May 12 - Home - Transfer to Lisbon airport to depart for home.
