- Day 1, Saturday, August 8–Hattiesburg/Laurel, MS -We begin our morning with a stop at the one-of-a-kind shop, The Lucky Rabbit, featured on HGTV’s Home Town and in Southern Living Magazine. This whimsical marketplace is sure to transport you back to childhood with its playful atmosphere and endless array of unique treasures. Next, we travel to Laurel, Mississippi, for a brief guided downtown tour followed by free time to explore and enjoy lunch on your own. Be sure to stop at Laurel Mercantile for home décor and souvenirs, as well as Scotsman General Store and Ben’s Workshop. You’ll also find a wonderful selection of antique stores, boutiques, and gift shops throughout town. This afternoon, we continue to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for a short visit to the University of Alabama campus—feel free to shout “Roll Tide!” if the spirit moves you. We then check into our hotel for an overnight stay in Tuscaloosa.
Day 2, Sunday, August 9– Huntsville, AL - Today we travel to Huntsville, Alabama, for a visit to the beautiful Huntsville Botanical Garden, where we’ll enjoy an included lunch surrounded by seasonal blooms and peaceful garden settings. This afternoon, we visit the iconic U.S. Space & Rocket Center, home of Space Camp, where you’ll explore fascinating exhibits celebrating America’s space program and inspiring achievements in space exploration. We then check into the Drury Inn & Suites Huntsville, where you can relax and enjoy the hotel’s popular Kickback® reception, which includes dinner and beverages. (B,L,D)
Day 3, Monday, August 10– Montgomery, AL - This morning, we stop at Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro, Alabama—the world’s only retailer of lost airline luggage. Browse through an ever-changing selection of deeply discounted designer clothing, jewelry, electronics, books, shoes, and unique travel finds, all carefully cleaned, tested, and organized for easy shopping. It’s a fun and fascinating treasure hunt where you never know what you’ll discover. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Alabama State Capitol, where you’ll learn about Montgomery’s pivotal role in American history. Following the tour, the remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore Historic Downtown Montgomery at your own pace. Popular options include the Hank Williams Museum, the Rosa Parks Museum & Library, along with local shops, cafés, and historic landmarks. We overnight in Montgomery. (B)
Day 4, Tuesday, August 11– Bellingrath Gardens/Home – Today, we enjoy Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, Alabama. Delight your senses with a visit to this floral oasis that features more than 2,000 roses in 75 different varieties, and much more. Tour the home of one of the first Coca-Cola bottlers in the Southeast and enjoy an included lunch. This afternoon, we make our way home. (B, L)
