Day 1 - Sunday, Aug. 7 – Depart the USA from your home airport for Glasgow, Scotland (unescorted flight).
Day 2 – Monday, Aug. 8 - Glasgow, Scotland – Morning arrival in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city. Transfer to Glasgow hotel where you will meet our guide and group. Day 3 - Tuesday, Aug. 9 - Inverness – Let your mind’s eye envision a painting of Scotland...that is today. We drive along the shoreline of Loch Lomond, the largest and most beautiful of the lakes. Visit Glen Coe and Fort William, nestled at the foot of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Scenic drive along Loch Ness monster fame. Keep an eye peeled. On to Inverness, capital of the Highlands. Day 4 - Wednesday, Aug. 10 - Inverness – We drive through more beautiful scenery to visit the Isle of Skye off the west coast. We tour inside Eilean Donan Castle, a picturesque castle that frequently appears in photographs, film and television including Highlander and Skyfall, part of the James Bond movie franchise. Day 5 – Thursday, Aug. 11 - Edinburgh – Morning visit to Culloden Battlefield, significant in British history. Here the Scottish forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were defeated by the English in 1746, the last battle fought on British soil. Drive through the eastern Highlands. Visit St. Andrews, where the game of golf was born. Cross the Firth of Forth Bridge, which takes us to Scotland‘s capital, Edinburg, our home for 2 nights. Day 6– Friday, Aug. 12 - Edinburgh – Our sightseeing tour of this handsome city includes Prince’s Street, the palace of Holyroodhouse and Edinburgh Castle, built in the 11th century and commanding a strategic site on Castlerock, overlooking the city. This afternoon, enjoy some free time for shopping or more sightseeing. Day 7 – Saturday, Aug. 13 - Home - Fly home, arriving the same day. |
