- Day 1- Tuesday, Aug. 5 - Portland – Depart from Baton Rouge or other home airports. Arrive in Portland, ME for a two-night stay. Tonight, enjoy an evening in the Old Port District, which offers walkable cobblestone streets and number of restaurants, shops, and attractions. Overnight in Portland.
Day 2- Wednesday, Aug. 6 - Portland – After breakfast, we meet our local guide for a city tour of Portland. See sea captain houses, the elegant Victoria Mansion, and Casco Bay in Portland Harbor. Stop at the Portland Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse in America. After lunch, enjoy a Casco Bay Lines Mailboat Cruise, a great way to see the Bay. Dinner this evening is at Di'Millos Floating Restaurant, an actual floating restaurant which offers you spectacular views of Portland Harbor while you enjoy your seafood dinner. (B, D)
Day 3- Thursday, Aug. 7- Boothbay Harbor - This morning, we’ll depart Portland and stop in Freeport at the L.L. Bean Flagship Store & Outlet. Next, we’ll stop in Wiscasset at the new Maine Tasting Center, a one-stop shop for learning, tasting and purchasing Maine made products. While here, you’ll enjoy the Flavors of Maine Cooking Demo, learning about some of Maine’s largest food and drink industries while tasting delicious products that represent them. Lunch is also included. This afternoon, we will make our way to Boothbay Harbor where we’ll check into our hotel. Dinner on your own tonight. (B, L)
Day 4 - Friday, Aug. 8 - Bar Harbor- This morning we’ll enjoy a Maine Puffin Cruise, witnessing firsthand the National Audubon Society’s success in reestablishing a puffin colony on Eastern Egg Rock as well as pass by three lighthouses and much more. Following the cruise and a break for lunch, we’ll make our way to Bar Harbor for a two-night stay. We will end the day with a traditional Lobster Dinner. (B, D)
Day 5 - Saturday, Aug. 9 - Bar Harbor– Today we visit Acadia National Park for a chance to see some amazing wildlife that live on and around this 49,000-acre recreational area. Keep your eyes out for moose, bear, whales and seabirds. This afternoon we’ll visit the Abbe Museum, the only Smithsonian Affiliate in the state of Maine. Following our museum visit, we’ll enjoy Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack Show, where you’ll watch thrilling lumberjack sports of wood chopping and sawing, tree climbing, ax throwing, and everyone’s favorite, log rolling. Dinner is included at a local restaurant this evening. (B, L, D)
Day 6 - Sunday, Aug. 10 - Gray, ME – We depart Bar Harbor today and stop in Gray, ME at the Maine Wildlife Park where you’ll see moose, white-tailed deer, black bears, bald eagles, mountain lions, and more - over 30 species of native wildlife. We’ll continue on to Ogunquit, ME for the night. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant, and following dinner, we’ll enjoy a performance at the Ogunquit Playhouse. (B,D)
Day 7 - Monday, Aug. 11 - Home– Today we’ll transfer back to the Portland airport and journey home with many wonderful memories. Thank you for traveling with Zachary Travel!
