Day 1- Franklin, TN – Pickups in Zachary, Baton Rouge and along the way. Overnight in Franklin, Tennessee.
Day 2 – Findlay, OH – This morning we’ll drive into Kentucky where our first stop will be the famous Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. Then through the rolling hills of Kentucky to Ohio. Overnight in the Findlay, Ohio area. Day 3 – Frankenmuth, MI – Today we visit the renowned Henry Ford Museum, where we experience America’s past and present. See the Rosa Parks bus, the Lincoln chair, the JFK Presidential Limousine and much more. Overnight in Frankenmuth, a little Bavarian town founded by German immigrants in 1845. Day 4 - Mackinaw City, MI– This morning, we’ll visit the world’s largest Christmas store, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. Then time for shopping and lunch before we journey to Mackinaw City for overnight. Day 5 - Mackinac Island at the Grand Hotel – Today we ferry ride to Mackinac Island where bicycles and horse-drawn carriages are the only means of transportation. The island is also home to all 23 lilac species, some 400 varieties and thousands of individual plants. After lunch, we enjoy a horse-drawn carriage tour of this wonderful island seeing the Governor’s Mansion and a stop at Arch Rock, one of the most photographed spots on the island. You will have breathtaking views of Lake Huron with the tour ending at the Grand Hotel, our home for the night. Tonight we enjoy an included 5-course dinner (a dress code is required - jacket, tie and dress slacks for men, dresses or skirts for ladies, no denim). About the Grand Hotel - “Truly, there is little in this world that can surpass that first breathtaking glimpse of the Grand Hotel as the carriage approaches to reveal it perched upon the bluff, its 660- foot porch (the world’s largest) bedecked with flags.” The hotel was built in 1887. It has 385 guest rooms and no two are decorated the same. Day 6 – The Grand Hotel – After a wonderful full breakfast at the Grand Hotel, we have time to explore the hotel and grounds or go back downtown to shop or tour the fort.. Tonight we enjoy an included 5-course dinner (a dress code is required - jacket, tie and dress slacks for men, dresses or skirts for ladies, no denim). Day 7 - Fort Wayne, Indiana - After a wonderful full breakfast at the Grand Hotel, we board our 10 a.m. ferry to the mainland. Overnight in the Fort Wayne area. Day 8 - Franklin, TN - We journey through Indiana to Louisville, Kentucky where we visit the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Then on to Franklin, Tennessee for overnight. Day 9 - Today we arrive home with wonderful memories of a great tour! |
