This tour may involve extensive walking at times, often on cobblestone streets or uneven terrains, and may require navigating stairs or steep inclines at historical sites - Day 1 -Friday, May 30– Fly from Baton Rouge (or other home airports) on an overnight flight to London.
Day 2 -Saturday, May 31- London – Morning arrival in London and begin our sightseeing with a visit to Windsor Castle, England’s largest castle and also the largest inhabited stronghold in the world – a favorite royal residence for a thousand years. Mid-afternoon arrival at our hotel. Leisure time to explore on your own this evening or to rest. Overnight in London.
Day 3 -Sunday, June 1- London – Today’s full day of guided sightseeing includes all the famous landmarks. Highlights include a guided visit to Westminster Abbey, one of the most famous and spectacular Gothic churches in the world, with over a thousand years of history. Also see the House of Parliament, Downing Street, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace. After lunch (not included), we tour the Tower of London with its impressive Crown Jewels, and enjoy a narrated cruise on the Thames River. We cap off the day with afternoon tea at Harrods, the world-famous department store with time to shop afterwards. This evening is at your leisure. Overnight in London. (B, Tea)
Day 4 -Monday, June 2- London- This morning enjoy a guided tour of the British Museum, the world’s oldest national public museum. Next, we visit Borough Market, one of the largest and oldest food markets in London, with a market on the site dating back to the 12th century. This afternoon, we have a London World War II walking tour which includes a visit to the Churchill War Rooms. This evening is at your leisure. Overnight in London. (B)
Day 5 -Tuesday, June 3- London – Today, we enjoy a day of independent activities including shopping and exploring on your own. Visit the London Eye, stop by the Globe, a reconstruction of Shakespeare’s Elizabethan playhouse, or stroll across the Millennium Bridge. Contact our office for tour possibilities. Tonight we have an included dinner at a local London restaurant. (B, D)
Day 6 -Wednesday, June 4 – Paris– This morning, board the high-speed Eurostar Train for Paris, going under the English Channel and arriving mid-day. After we check into our hotel, we’ll enjoy a leisurely Seine River cruise with views of the Eiffel Tower. (B)
Day 7 -Thursday, June 5 - Paris- Guided sightseeing today includes the Notre Dame cathedral, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Concorde Square, and the Champs-Elysees. Continue on to Montmartre, Paris’s renowned arts district. Ride the Petit Train de Montmartre, a train-style trolly, through narrow lanes and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of Paris from the Sacre-Coeur Basilica. At Place de Tertre, where artists display their work, enjoy an included lunch with Soupe a l’Oignon (onion soup) and traditional crepes. Overnight in Paris. (B, L)
Day 8 -Friday, June 6 - Paris- This morning, we visit the Palace of Versailles, the most famous palace in Europe, built by Louis XIV with lunch on the palace grounds. We’ll then make our way to Giverny, to see impressionist painter Claude Monet’s house and gardens. Overnight in Paris. (B, L)
Day 9 -Saturday , June 7- Paris- A full and free day to immerse yourself in this fascinating city. Visit one of dozens of art museums such as the Louvre, stroll along the Seine river, or enjoy a chocolate croissant at a local cafe. Food tours and other day tours can be arranged upon request. Farewell dinner this evening. (B, D)
Day 10- Sunday, June 8- Home-Today we fly home, arriving the same day, with wonderful memories of our time in London and Paris. (B)
