This tour may involve extensive walking at times, often on cobblestone streets or uneven terrains, and may require navigating stairs or steep inclines at historical sites - Day 1- Sunday, July 13 – Fly from Baton Rouge (or other home airports) for overnight flight to Glasgow. Scotland’s largest city.
Day 2 - Monday, July 14 - Glasgow, Scotland – Arrival in Glasgow. We check into our hotel and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 3 - Tuesday, July 15- Glasgow, Scotland – This afternoon enjoy a panoramic tour which includes George Square and its ornate City Chambers and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Dinner this evening at the hotel. Overnight in Glasgow. (D)
Day 4 - Wednesday, July 16 - Loch Lommond/Loch Ness Cruise - Travel alongside the famous Loch Lomond, renowned for its beauty. Drive across the Rannoch Moor and through Glencoe, Fort William and on to Fort Augustus. Embark on a short cruise on Loch Ness before heading to Nairn, where we will stay overnight. (B, D)
Day 5 - Thursday, July 17 - St Andrews - Visit Blair Athol Distillery, founded in 1798, to learn traditional husky production and taste a sample. Then we’ll travel to St. Andrews, a town rich in medieval heritage and the home of golf. Time to explore independently. Continue on to your elegant manor house hotel outside Edinburgh. Explore as you wish and dine independently this evening. (B)
Day 6 - Friday, July 18 - Edinburgh Castle –Explore central Edinburgh from the bustling Princes Street, walk along part of the Royal Mile where compact medieval houses reach several stories tall. Visit Edinburgh Castle, home to the Scottish Crown jewels. The rest of your day is free. This evening, experience a lively Scottish dinner with traditional entertainment. (B, D) Day 7 -
Saturday, July 19 - Ferry to Ireland/Titantic Belfast – Depart Edinburgh and travel through Ayrshire and along the coast. Embark on a ferry ride to Belfast, see the highlights of this fascinating city and visit Titanic Belfast to explore the fascinating story of the doomed ship. Then we travel to Dublin, where we will enjoy free time for dinner on our own. (B)
Day 8- Sunday, July 20 - Dublin – Explore Dublin on a panoramic tour with a local guide, and view its elegant Georgian buildings, Trinity college, the River Liffey and more. Visit Christ Church Cathedral, the spiritual heart of the city for more than 1,000 years. This evening, dine on a former Guinness barge as you cruise the Grand Canal, listening to traditional Irish music. (B, D)
Day 9 - Monday, July 21 - Killarney- Today we travel through the countryside to a traditional farm, where we’ll savor tea, homemade scones and watch sheepdogs display their skills. Next we visit Blarney Castle to kiss its famous stone or enjoy the gardens. We’ll then move on to Killarney, where we’ll enjoy dinner, and attend the Gaelic Roots Irish Dance & Music Show. Overnight in Killarney. (B,D)
Day 10- Tuesday, July 22 - Ring of Kerry - We head to the scenic Gap of Dunloe to visit Moriarty’s, an Irish shop that’s family-owned and offers a wide range of Irish-made products which includes beautiful wool goods and jewelry. Enjoy the Ring of Kerry drive and cross the bridge to Valentia Island to visit the Skellig Experience, which explains the life of early Christian hermits on Skellig Michael, a rocky island featured in one of the Star Wars films. Return to Killarney where the evening is free. (B, L)
Day 11 - Wednesday, July 23- Cliffs of Moher – Cross the Shannon River estuary by ferry on our way to visit the Cliffs of Moher, which soar 700 feet above the Atlantic. This evening, after we’ve rested at our hotel for a bit, we’ll visit a genuine castle for a medieval style feast, complete with serenading lords and ladies. (B, D)
Day 12 - Thursday, July 24- Galway/Dublin– Visit Galway for a walking tour around the city center with a local guide. Visit the picturesque monastic ruins of Clonmacnoise, founded in 544 AD by Saint Claran. Back in Dublin, your evening is free to explore (B)
Day 13 - Friday, July 25- Return Home – Today we fly home from Dublin , reflecting on all of the wonderful memories made.
