- Day 1 - Thursday, April 30- Vermilionville, Louisiana - Morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge, routing through Lafayette. After we arrive in Lafayette, our first stop will be at Vermilionville, a 23-acre historic village and folklife park in Lafayette, Louisiana, that showcases Acadian, Creole, and Native American cultures through reconstructed historic homes and costumed interpreters demonstrating traditional crafts. The living history park also features live music, dance, cooking demonstrations, a restaurant with Cajun cuisine, and opportunities to learn about the area's ecology along the Bayou Vermillion. We will enjoy a guided tour, a boat cruise on Bayou Vermilion, a music experience, and an included lunch.
Next, we travel to Glide Studios Lafayette, where owner Harold Bernard will teach us the basics of the Cajun Two-Step and Waltz! This fun, beginner-friendly lesson will get you shuffling across the dance floor to lively Cajun music. No partner needed-just wear your comfortable shoes and a desire to have a good time. Our included dinner this evening will be at Little Big Cup in Arnaudville. The Little Big Cup is known for its gourmet Cajun Cuisine, charming ambiance, and scenic deck overlooking Bayou Fuselier. Overnight in Lafayette. (L,D)
Day 2 - Friday, May 1– After an included breakfast, we make our way to Avery Island, a 2,200-acre salt dome in Louisiana, formed by ancient salt deposits pushed to the surface. It is known as the home of TABASCO Pepper Sauce factory and the Mcllhenny family, who have owned the island for over 180 years. The island also features natural attractions like Jungle Gardens, as well as a long history of settlement
